Privacy Policy
This policy explains how RankFour at rankfour.com handles information when you visit or play.

Information used to run your game
You enter a name to play; a nickname is fine. We do not ask for an email address, password or account.
We store names, player IDs, room settings, locked private question batches and rankings, published questions and choices, submitted answers, scores, activity times and hashed room access tokens. This runs your game and lets you reconnect. Your opponent sees your name, presence and scores, whether you have finished setup, each question and its choices when that round opens, and your ranking when the round ends. Future questions stay private until their round opens; rankings stay private until reveal.
Cookies and browser storage
RankFour does not set cookies or run advertising or analytics scripts. Local storage remembers your name, room access and notification choices. Temporary session storage in your current tab saves editable question drafts, their order, draft guesses and pending room requests. Editable setup drafts stay in that tab until you lock them in; locking in saves the private prepared batch on the server and clears its tab draft after acknowledgement. Your browser caches public icons and an offline page.
Saved browser information remains until you clear it or your browser removes it. Clearing site data for rankfour.com removes saved access and can prevent you returning to a room.
Optional notifications
Notifications need your browser permission. We store a push subscription address, encryption keys and alert choices to send updates through your browser's push provider. Alerts exclude names and private answers.
Turn notifications off in app settings to unsubscribe and request removal from saved rooms, or block them in your browser. Leaving a room removes your notification subscription for it.
Hosting and retention
Cloudflare hosts RankFour, stores room data and processes network details, including IP addresses, to deliver and protect the site. Hosting and push providers can process information outside your country. We do not sell your game information.
Server room data and notification records are deleted after 30 days without game activity. Leaving a room or clearing browser data does not immediately delete its server records. Server expiry does not clear browser storage.
Your choices and rights
Use a nickname and share your invite only with your opponent. You can leave a room, turn off notifications and clear site data at any time.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to use of personal information, or request a copy. You can complain to your local regulator, including the Information Commissioner's Office in the UK.
